Your Child's Education: The Power of an Advocate

Embarking on my special education advocacy journey feels like following the breadcrumbs life has left for me. It all began at the tender age of 6, surrounded by the inspiring world of occupational therapy. My mom worked in a practice, and I found myself tagging along to home visits, forming fast friendships with the amazing kids receiving therapy.

As life unfolded, my own siblings needed Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and various services. Witnessing my mom navigate the complex landscape of IEP meetings and parent-teacher conferences left her feeling drained and somewhat defeated. The desire to make a difference was planted early on.

When I entered the workforce, I didn't know where my professional path would lead, but one constant emerged—I was always drawn to working with children, families, and schools. My journey took a significant turn when I became a family advocate at a school. Helping families grasp the intricacies of special education became a passion, but a deeper calling stirred within me. I dreamed of educating families independently, on my terms.

The pivotal moment occurred when friends sought my guidance for their own children. It struck me—I was destined to be an advocate. My experiences, from working with schools to navigating the private side of advocacy while securing an IEP for my own child, shaped me into the advocate I am today.

Having an advocate like me by your side in the realm of special education can be a game-changer. I'm here to bridge the communication gap, ensuring that you understand your rights, the available resources, and what each step in the process means for your child's education.

I bring firsthand experience to the table. I've walked the path you're on—I've attended the meetings, felt the frustrations, and celebrated the victories. This personal experience gives me a profound understanding of the emotional journey you're undertaking.

Another critical aspect is empowerment. I'm here to empower you as a parent or caregiver. It's easy to feel overwhelmed or intimidated by the educational system, but with me as your advocate, you'll gain confidence.

Having an advocate means having someone who's dedicated to fighting for your child's educational rights. I'll work tirelessly to ensure that your child receives the support they need to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

I've walked the walk, felt the frustration, and experienced the victories. Now, armed with this unique blend of personal and professional knowledge, I'm here to be the advocate your child and family need. It's more than a job; it's a heartfelt mission to empower families with the understanding and support they deserve in the world of special education.
